Tom Goodspeed
Tom has been playing polo for
the past 40 years and managing equestrian facilities for 25 years. Tom has
produced a series of 5 instructional videos, Polo Basics, that have
been the benchmark of polo training videos for over 15 years. He has
authored numerous instructional articles and continues to actively teach
polo clinics.
He is a member of numerous
USPA committees and is currently Chairman of the National Arena Committee.
He holds an “A” Umpire Certification for both Outdoors and Arena.
Tom’s strength has always been
a balance between club management and new player development. He was the
Captain of the 1973 and 74 National Intercollegiate, Univ. of Connecticut
Championship Team.
In 1985 Tom accepted the
position of Director of Equestrian Activities at Los Angeles Equestrian
Centre. There he and Joe Henderson developed the largest polo school on
record.
Tom also managed the Pro Arena
Polo (18 – 24 goal polo) for 11 game seasons. Tom became one of eight
players to hold the Highest Arena Polo Handicap in the World, “9 Goals”. In
1995 Tom was awarded Arena Polo Player of The Year.
Lou Lopez
Formerly a ‘4 Goal’ Arena
handicap that has played polo for the past 25 years. Was coach of Yale
University Polo Team in 1986 when they won The National Championship.
Head Coach of UVA Polo Team in
2003 when they won the National Championship.
Holds regular clinics and
instructs about 50 students at UVA currently where he also manages a polo
string of 75 horses. 2007 was the Head Coach of UVA Girls Polo Team that
was # 2 in the country, and Head Coach UVA Boys Polo Team that was # 3 in
the country.
